The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has commissioned two new classroom blocks at Kayanja Army Primary School in Kyankwanzi, reaffirming its commitment to improving education standards.
The commissioning ceremony was presided over by the Joint Staff Political Commissariat, Maj Gen Henry Masiko, who represented the Chief of Defence Forces.
Maj Gen Masiko described education as a strategic investment critical to the nation’s future and urged the Kyankwanzi community to support and preserve the new facilities. He commended the Engineers’ Brigade for their work on the project and recognised their contribution to its successful completion.
The Joint Staff Education, Sports and Culture, Brig Gen Richard Karemire, praised the CDF for his continued support and reaffirmed the army’s commitment to education programmes. He encouraged teachers to remain optimistic, assuring them that government would address welfare concerns and continue to invest in school infrastructure.
The head teacher of Kayanja Army Primary School, Mr Olupot Patrick, thanked the UPDF and the Chieftaincy of Education for the new classrooms, and called on staff and pupils to take care of the facilities.
The ceremony was attended by senior and junior UPDF officers, local government leaders including Kyankwanzi Town Council Mayor Elijah Kwefugga and LC1 Chairman Sabiiti Edward, as well as teachers, parents, and pupils of the school.
