Bombo Army Senior Secondary School Celebrates 25 Years Of Existence

Bombo Army Senior Secondary School marked 25 years (Silver Jubilee) of existence on 8^th June 2023.

 

As part of activities to celebrate the day, the UPDF brass band accompanied students and staff as they matched in big numbers around Bombo town.

 

Speaking as Chief Guest at the celebrations, the UPDF Deputy Director of Medical Services Brig Gen Dr.  Patrick Ocen noted that the school came into existence in 1997, making it the 3^rd oldest school in the history of Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces following Nakasongola and Air Force SSS in Entebbe, respectively.

 

Brig Gen Dr. Patrick ocen blessed the occasion by thanking the administration of the school for the tremendous effort exhibited in making the school a model school.

 

Brig Ocen also asserted that the school should be an academic giant since it sits at the General headquarters of the Land Force. “This school should be an example to other UPDF schools in the country, “he said.

 

He concluded his speech by thanking all stakeholders who worked tirelessly in bringing the school from zero to being one of the best schools in the country.

 

Singing, drama, and acrobatics were performed by students at the occasion. Gifts and certificates were awarded to the outgoing prefects and best-performing Staff.

 

The headmistress of the school Mrs. Birungi Alice Baruga thanked the UPDF fraternity for steering the school to acceptable levels.

 

She remarked that the school started with 79 students, but currently, the school has three thousand one hundred eighty-two (3182) students.

 

The headmistress thanked the army leadership for the tremendous effort and for investing in the school.

 

She thanked President Museveni for putting education as first priority.

 

Providing affordable and equitable education for holistic development is the school’s mission, and moulding a holistic citizen is the school’s vision since it came into existence.

 

She told invited guests that the core values of the school are: patriotism, discipline, hard work, honesty, integrity, transparency and accountability.

 

The school provides affordable quality education to militants and their children, children of fallen comrades and those from the general public.

 

She called upon soldiers to continue enrolling their children in the school since it provides quality education and has a conducive learning environment.
