The Armoured Division has donated UGX 1 million to the Hafisa Magezi Foundation, a community-based initiative supporting the girl child, the sick and vulnerable, as well as promoting agricultural livelihoods through the distribution of coffee seedlings in the Ssaza area and surrounding districts in Masaka.
The Armoured Division Commander, Brigadier General Pande Kajuba, handed over the donation and pledged continued support for community-driven initiatives.
Brig Gen Kajuba said the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces remains committed not only to security operations but also to supporting socio-economic transformation. He encouraged young people to embrace pan-Africanism and patriotism as guiding values for national development.
“The army no longer only fights in the bush. We are also fighting poverty. We should acquire skills that empower us to improve our livelihoods. Agriculture and other productive activities are key to sustainable development,” he said.
He further noted that supporting civil society initiatives is part of the UPDF’s broader role in fostering stability and development within communities.
On behalf of the foundation, Sheikh Ashraf expressed appreciation to the UPDF and the Armoured Division for their continued support to community projects and for maintaining a strong working relationship with civilians.
The event was attended by the Deputy Division Commander, Brig Gen Wilson Bagonza, the Division Administrative Officer, Col David Kiirya Bamutaze, the Division Maintenance Officer, Lt Col Charles Lubega,
