Civil Military Cooperation Crucial In UPDF’s Engagements – Brig Gen Rwashande

The Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation, Brigadier General Emmanuel Rwashande has said that CIMIC has played an important role in the engagements of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces both in Uganda and in its international engagements in Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Somalia and South Sudan.

 

Brig Gen Rwashande made the remarks yesterday as he launched the Civil-Military Coordination Centre in Moroto Municipality, Moroto District.

 

He emphasized that CIMIC is all about coordination and cooperation with the population and noted that the people is the reason the army exists and therefore that makes them their strategic partners he added.

 

Brig Gen Rwashande recognized the importance of Human Rights and urged Civil Society Organisations, local leaders to support Civil Military Cooperation in the promotion and respect of Human Rights.

 

Brig Gen Rwashande appreciated the role played by joint security forces towards ensuring peace in the sub-region. He further emphasized that the Government is committed to transforming Karamoja like other parts of the country.

 

The Deputy RDC Moroto, Mr Justin Sam Tuko said that Karamoja has got relative peace as compared to the past months. He added that the mobilisation drives are bearing fruit as more guns are being recovered voluntarily.

 

The function was attended by the Deputy Chief CIMIC, Col Sam Ntambirwe, Local Leaders, Non-Governmental representatives, and representatives from sister security agencies.
