Somali Military Chiefs Brief Gen Kainerugaba on Security Situation in Mogadishu

Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with Somali military chiefs this morning in Nairobi.

 

They were led by the Deputy Chief of Defence Somali National Armed Forces, Brig Gen Madey Nurey Sheikh.

The Somali delegation, in the city for Friday’s East African Community (EAC) Chiefs of Defence Forces (CDF) meeting, briefed him on the security situation in Mogadishu.

 

They also expressed gratitude for the Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) role in maintaining peace and stability in Somalia since their initial deployment in 2007.

 

Gen. Kainerugaba thanked the chiefs for their courtesy call and wished them success in their efforts.

The meeting, held in Nairobi, was also attended by Uganda’s Chief of Intelligence and Security, Maj. Gen. James Birungi.
