The high-level discussion focused on strengthening diplomatic and military ties between the two nations, reflecting the deepening partnership that has evolved over nearly four decades .

The meeting, which took place at the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing, built upon the momentum of Gen Kainerugaba’s earlier engagements in China, including his visit to the China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation (CATIC) and the signing of a new defence pact with General Liu Zhenli, Chief of the Joint Staff Department of China’s Central Military Commission .

Gen Kainerugaba and Mr. Liu Yuxi discussed a wide range of issues, including peace and security in Africa, economic collaboration, and the role of Uganda and China in fostering stability on the continent.
