The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, hosted Congolese soukous star Awilo Longomba at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe on Monday afternoon.
The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara, and NRM Secretary General, Richard Todwong.
Awilo Longomba, whose real name is Louis Albert William Longomba, is in Uganda for a concert called Afro-exclusive. He will headline the event alongside Nigerian singer and songwriter Chike.
The concert is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
Gen Kainerugaba last year met Jamaican music star Konshens with whom they discussed potential for collaboration between the Jamaican and Ugandan music industries, highlighting the shared opportunities and vibrant music scenes in both countries.
Longomba is celebrated for hits like “Karolina,” “Bundelele,” “Mobimba Ya Mama,” “Porokondo,” and “Champion,” among others. Chike is known for his popular tracks such as “Running,” “If You No Love,” “Insecure,” and “Roju.”
