CDF Meets High Level Belgian Delegation to Discuss Bilateral Security Cooperation

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, today met with the Ambassador of Belgium to Uganda, H.E. Hugues Chantry, at the Special Forces Command Headquarters in Entebbe.

The meeting focused on strengthening the longstanding bilateral relations between the two nations and addressing their bilateral security cooperation.

In his remarks, the CDF called for the continuation of the good relationship between Uganda and Belgium at all levels, underscoring the importance of sustained diplomatic and defence engagement.

Furthermore, General Kainerugaba discussed the regional security landscape, covering the ongoing stabilization efforts in Somalia under African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), Operation Shujaa in Eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and peacebuilding initiatives in South Sudan.

Highlighting the transnational nature of these conflicts, the CDF called upon the Belgian delegation to deepen its collaboration with Uganda in order to address some of these security challenges.

The Belgian ambassador
who was accompanied by the Defence Advisor of Belgium to Uganda, Col Michel Recour and other high ranking military and diplomatic officials acknowledged the excellent relationship with Uganda and pledged to continue working to ensure smooth relations.

Both parties concluded by reaffirming their commitment to working together to promote peace and security in the region and to exploring new avenues of mutual cooperation.
