Senior logistics officers of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces convened at the College of Logistics and Engineering, Magamaga, for a five-day Joint Staff Logistics Retreat aimed at enhancing force sustainment through improved asset and inventory management.
The retreat under the theme “Logisticians’ Role in Asset/Inventory Management with the View of Enhancing Proficiency in Force Sustainment,” brought together key logistics officers.
Brig Gen Ogwal emphasised the vital role of logistics in military efficiency and highlighted that successful defence management hinges on the proper allocation of human and financial resources, adherence to legal frameworks, and upholding accountability in logistics operations.
He noted that in the UPDF establishment, quartermasters and logistics officers played a crucial role in managing resources at the tactical and operational levels, particularly in supply and logistics. He urged participants to uphold best practices and avoid shortcuts in resource management.
Senior military officials, including the Cantonment Commander Magamaga, Brig Gen Augustine Kyazze; Deputy Inspector General of UPDF Brig Gen Ronald Kagenyi, and representatives from key logistics departments, attended the retreat.
