Manager Social Cooperate Investment Ms. Diana Onduga hands over two incubators to Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda the JCOS and Maj Gen Musinguzi Chief Medical Services at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs in Mbuya
The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces today received a donation of two incubators from Stanbic Bank Uganda at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya.
The Joint Chief of Staff, Major General Leopold Kyanda who received the donation thanked Stanbic Bank for their gesture and said that the donation will enhance the medical services offered by the UPDF to both its personnel and the civilian communities. He said that the incubators will be used efficiently. “As UPDF, the health facilities take care of over 80% civilians, this donation will not just benefit UPDF but also civilians. You partnered with us during Tarehe Sita and observed how we work and interact with civilians and that’s not the only time we treat them, they come to our health facilities regularly,” said Maj Gen Kyanda.
Ms. Diana Ondoga, the Manager of Corporate Social Investment of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited said that the donation is part of the bank’s campaign, “Every mother and newborn counts” under the corporate social investment initiative aimed at saving the lives of women through improved maternal health and premature babies. “The rate of mortality is high at the point of giving birth but also babies who are born prematurely have low chances of survival if there is no incubator in place, we are aware that UPDF has locations and serves communities including baby deliveries,” Ms. Ondoga noted. She promised that Stanbic bank would continue to partner with different entities to fulfill their promise of donating 5 incubators to UPDF. Stanbic bank promised a donation of five incubators on top of sponsoring several activities during the recent Tarehe Sita that was celebrated in greater Mbarara. The procurement process is on for the remaining three.
Additionally, Stanbic bank donated 2000 tree seedlings to UPDF last Saturday towards its efforts of re-afforesting Uganda.
The function was witnessed by UPDF chiefs and directors.
