The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces – Air Force (UPDF-AF) Commander Lt Gen Charles Okidi inspected the Gulu Air Force wing and held a meeting prevalently known as Monday Baraza with officers and militants of the Wing today.
In his address, Lt Gen Okidi reminded the troops, of the cardinal rules, mission and mandate of UPDF – AF, which among others includes protecting the country’s space and giving support to other services. “You should remain healthy to be in position to engage the visible and invisible enemies, embrace command courses as part of other factors considered for promotion and you should leave within your financial means to help you succeed in your institutional career and life,” Lt Gen Okidi noted.
He further explained to the troops what UPDF – AF is doing to improve their welfare and accommodation, among others.
He concluded by advising officers and militants present at the baraza to air out any concerns to their superiors to avoid future problems.
The wing commander Gulu Col Richard Rubongoya applauded the Commander Air Force visit and added that troops gain morale when commanders from the strategic level talk to them.
Lt Gen Okidi was accompanied by the Director Personnel and Administration Air Force (DPA-AF) Brig Gen Julius Bagonza, Director Estate Air Force Col Justus B. Nsereko, Director Political Education (DOPE) Air Force Lt Col Arthur M Muhimbura, Director Training Air Force Lt Col Sam Opolot and Director of intelligence and security Air Force Col Dan Kazini, among others.
