Wazalendo SACCO Donates Mama Kits Worth UGX 6M to Kyankwanzi District

Wazalendo Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (WSACCO) has extended support to expectant mothers in Kyankwanzi District through a donation of 500 packs of Mama Kits worth six million Uganda Shillings.

The donation was made ahead of the International Women’s Day celebrations held in the district on 8th March 2025.

While handing over the donation on behalf of Wazalendo SACCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Brig Gen Joseph Freddy Onata, the Head of Finance, Col Julius Katanaka, stated that the contribution is part of WSACCO’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) strategy under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) function.

He emphasised that supporting the community aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between Wazalendo, the UPDF leadership, and the local community.

The Acting Director for Women Affairs, Col Lydia Nandudu, commended Wazalendo SACCO for positively responding to the call to support women during the Women’s Day celebrations.

She said that the donation would promote hygiene and provide essential birth kits to mothers who cannot afford them.

The Mama Kits will be distributed to health centres, where they will be given to expectant mothers in need of support during delivery.

During the event, the Wazalendo SACCO team led by Lt Col Akasius Mpabaisi also participated in other activities, including a parade and offering offsite services as part of continuous member engagement.
