UPDF Generals, Senior Officer Off To Algeria To Benchmark On Military Museum

The UPDF high-powered delegation led by the Chief Political Commissar Maj Gen Henry Masiko is away on a week-long visit to Algerian Military Museum to understand it and get best practices that will be applied as UPDF moves to establish a National Military Museum in Uganda at Katonga in Mpigi district.

The delegation includes Maj Gen Moses Rwakitarate, Brig Sam Omara the UPDF Defence Advisor to Algeria and Maj Maruti the UPDF National Military Museum Coordinator, among others.

Their mission in the Algerian capital is to study and benchmark good practices of management of the Military Museum and to follow up on the MoU between Algeria and Uganda after the Visit by H. E President Yoweri Museveni to Algeria in March 2023.

While in Algeria, they met the director of the central military museum who briefed them on the history of the Algerian military museum.

UPDF since 2020 embarked on a long journey of establishing a national military Museum and a foundation stone was laid by His Excellency President Museveni on the 20th of December 2020. However, the project has been slow due to funding.
