The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces 1 Infantry Division Headquarters, Kakiri Barracks has today received a donation of 2,000 fruit trees from Dr Jibril Owomugisha, the Director of Million Trees International Organisation.
Receiving the donation behalf of the Division Commander Brigadier General Joseph Ssemwanga, the Division Administrative Officer, Colonel Emmanuel Muhoozi thanked Dr. Jibril Owomugisha for the donation which he said will help improve the Eco-Community Restoration especially at the time when the Division is embarking on afforestation at different formations.
Dr. Jibril Owomugisha while handing over the fruit trees said trees help to improve food security, household income and nutritional supplements for the staffs. He further encouraged soldiers to plant and care for all the trees planted in the barracks.
He added that tree growing campaign started with the URDCC (Gaddadi Barracks), Kaweweta Recruits Training School, SFC barracks, Elgon Region, and South Western Uganda during the recently concluded Tarehe Sita activities.
He later met the Division Commander, Brig Gen Joseph Ssemwanga and they discussed environment concerns and gave him a delivery note of 2,000 fruit trees.
In attendance were Officers and Men of 1 Division.
