Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) troops serving under the United Nations Guard Unit Eleven (UNGU-XI) in Somalia successfully completed Camp Security and Induction Training for the third batch of personnel.
The training, designed to enhance the effectiveness of UPDF troops in the complex operational environment of Somalia, focused on equipping personnel with essential security skills and a thorough understanding of UN operations.
The Camp Security Training aimed to strengthen the troops’ ability to safeguard the UN compound, personnel, and assets against potential threats. Meanwhile, the Induction Training provided an overview of the UN’s mandate in Somalia, familiarizing UPDF personnel with the regulations governing their role within UNGU.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy UNGU-XI Commander, Major Jacob Gowan Kaburika, commended the trainees for their dedication and professionalism.
“You have demonstrated a high level of professionalism and commitment to your duties. I am confident that you will make a positive impact on our operations here in Somalia,” he said.
Mr. Robert Beljan, representing the Chief of Training, praised the officers and troops for their discipline, cooperation, and hard work. He urged them to apply their newly acquired skills in their operational duties.
The successful completion of Camp Security Training and Induction Training marks a significant achievement in the UPDF’s ongoing mission under UNGU.
