UPDF Soldiers Warned Against Unethical Conduct

The Commandant of the Military Police Brigade, Brig Gen William Bainomugisha, has issued a firm warning to Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) personnel, stating that unethical behaviour will not be tolerated within the force.

“Unethical conduct will have no room here,” Brig Gen Bainomugisha declared while addressing soldiers at Nsujju-Mporwe Barracks in Mpigi District. His remarks were made during the conclusion of a refresher course and the launch of a pre-Level III Military Police course for newly passed-out soldiers.

He stressed that wearing the red beret of the Military Police is a privilege earned through rigorous vetting and training, beginning with the pre-Level III refresher course.

Brig Gen Bainomugisha also urged troops to uphold personal discipline and lead by example. “We lead by example,” he said, reinforcing the notion that internal discipline is foundational to effective enforcement.

Colonel Justus Musenene, the Brigade’s Operations and Training Officer, underscored the importance of refresher training in maintaining operational readiness. “These courses help people refocus and realign with their military responsibilities,” he said.

Major Alex Echeru, the Brigade Operations Officer, detailed the course content, which included military drills, physical fitness training, theoretical lessons, military law, the UPDF structure, and political education.

Military Police leadership reaffirmed its commitment to rolling out refresher courses across all departments to boost professionalism, discipline, and patriotism throughout the force.
