UPDF Passes Out Platoon Commanders At Labwordwong Training School

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has passed out 53 officers who completed the Platoon Commanders’ Course at the 5 Infantry Division Training School in Labwordwong, Agago District.

Presiding over the ceremony, the Joint Staff Training and Doctrine Commander, Brigadier General Wycliffe Keita, commended the 5 Infantry Division for its commitment to professional military training and pledged greater institutional support for training schools across the division.

Brig Gen Keita said training institutions play a critical role in human resource development within the UPDF and noted that addressing existing gaps in training infrastructure and resources would significantly improve the force’s operational effectiveness.

The Deputy Commander of the 5 Infantry Division, Col Gai Mpadwa, urged the graduates to apply the leadership skills and knowledge acquired during the course in their daily duties.

“Platoon leadership remains the backbone of the UPDF. You should therefore use the skills gained here to enhance professionalism and effectiveness in your units,” Col Mpadwa said.

He added that the division would continue supporting the training school and commended the instructors for their dedication and coordination throughout the course.

The Commandant of the school, Col Simon Onyinge, reaffirmed the school’s commitment to producing more skilled and professional soldiers for the UPDF.
