UPDF Officers Urged To Prioritise Training

One hundred and one officers of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have graduated from the Junior Staff College (JSC) in Jinja, marking the completion of their 4-month Grade III Staff Course, Intake 35/24.

 

Brig Gen Kefa Nangeso, Dean of Studies at the National Defence College Uganda (NDC-U), stressed the importance of training in maintaining professionalism within the UPDF. “The UPDF is now a professional army, and everything must be done professionally. This professionalism can be maintained through training,” he emphasised.

 

Brig Gen Nangeso urged the officers to embrace every level of training to become fully accomplished and apply their knowledge to enhance their professional careers. He noted that the UPDF has established comprehensive training levels, from basic military training to the National Defence College, and encouraged the officers to seize these opportunities.

 

Brig Gen Chris Ogwal, Commandant of the JSC, advised the officers to uphold the values instilled in them during their training to advance their careers in the UPDF. He also expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for their support in ensuring the course’s success.

 

Lt Col Apollo Creg Kaawe and Maj Newton Isaac Nuwamazima were recognised for their outstanding performance in exemplary leadership and Commandant Service Paper, respectively.

 

Distinguished guests in attendance included Brig Gen Peter Gaetano Omola, Commander of the Uganda Rapid Deployment Capability; Col Katongole, Commandant of the School of Supply and Transport; Col Saad Katemba, Commandant of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy; Miss Lydia Karemera, Buikwe District RDC; Senior Superintendent of Police Charles Nsaba, Kiira Region Police Commander; and other officials.
