Fourteen personnel of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have completed a six-week Aviation Security (AVSEC) Course in Mogadishu aimed at strengthening airport safety and operational readiness.
The trainees were passed out by the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) Sector One Contingent Administrative Officer, Col Hamza Kasaija, who urged them to apply the knowledge and professionalism gained during the training while carrying out their duties at the airport.
“Be careful, remain safe and minimise risks that may endanger lives and property by adhering to what you have been taught,” Col Kasaija said.
The lead facilitator, Mr David Romoleroux, Prime Manager at Hart/Longport, said that the training was intended to strengthen the trainees’ professionalism and capacity to effectively carry out aviation security duties.
The Battle Group Air Component Commander, Lt Col Thamson Musoke, commended the participants for their discipline during the course and expressed gratitude to the AUSSOM and UPDF leadership as well as the facilitators for their support.
