The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 3 Infantry Division has reaffirmed its commitment to capacity building with the commencement of a Platoon Commanders Course (PCC) aimed at strengthening junior leadership within the force.
A total of 55 junior officers drawn from units under the Division begun the first intake of the four-month course at the Division Headquarters in Moroto Barracks.
“Discipline, patience, professionalism and integrity define a true leader. Wars and battles are won or lost at the platoon level.”
He urged the officers to uphold UPDF values, set exemplary standards of conduct and appreciate that leadership goes beyond rank, calling instead for firm military discipline and responsibility.
The opening was attended by brigade commanders, the Division Administrative Officer, Col Richard Butungi, as well as senior and junior officers from affiliated units and the Division Headquarters.
