Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces – Air Force Passes Out First Band Intake

The Director Personnel and Administration – Air Force of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces, Brigadier General Julius Bagonza has today presided over the pass out of 40 personnel who were undergoing the Basic Band Course Intake 01/2022-2023 at Uganda Air Force Senior Secondary School Playground, Katabi, Entebbe.

 

Brig Gen Bagonza who had represented the Commander Air Force, Lt Gen Charles Okidi said that the plays a key role in the success of national and international functions, ceremonies and parades among others.

 

He tipped them on conscious and financial discipline in their lives and reminded them to embrace training in their careers. “The President of the Republic of Uganda His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa and commander in Chief (CIC) has always reminded us the senior leaders and commanders to train and offer opportunities to the young generation and am happy with the band leadership for the implementation of CIC’s initiative,” said Brig Gen Bagonza.

 

Mrs. Scholastica Baguma the Division Chairperson Local Council III applauded His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the Parish Development Model (PDM) imitative and requested UPDAF to talk to their spouses to register and benefit from the PDM to improve on their lively hood through their projects they registered.

 

The Director band Airforce Capt Musa Musoke Seguya said that this is the first intake for the Basic band course which started on 1st November 2022 from the mainstream of Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) Band at  Land Force Headquarters in Bombo.

 

Capt Musa Musoke Seguya added that the grandaunts have taken a full year on the course which involved knowing how to play all the instruments that make up a band and knowing how to relate with the civilian communities since most of Band work is more civilian orientated than the state functions.

 

UPDF brass bands are maintained in accordance with the British traditions that date back to the King African Riffle (KAR) era and all the services; Land Force, Air Force and Special Forces Command have their own military Bands which originated from the mainstream Band under the Land Force headquarters in Bombo.
