Maj Gen Don William Nabasa, Commander 3 Infantry Division, Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has cautioned officers and soldiers against seeking favours and instead encouraged them to strive for excellence through hard work, discipline, and effective performance, earning rewards in all areas of military service.

Maj Gen Nabasa made the remarks during the passing-out ceremony of 348 troops who completed a 12-week refresher training at Moroto Army Barracks.

He underscored the importance of regular training, particularly during peacetime, to equip troops with the necessary skills to minimise mistakes on the battlefield. He further announced that additional customised training programmes would be conducted to acclimatise soldiers to the operational environment.

The Division’s Operations and Training Officer, Col James Barigye Rukundo observed that continued training has yielded substantial improvements in the force’s combat effectiveness and operational efficiency.

The trainees who performed exceptionally were recognised and awarded prizes.

The passing-out ceremony was attended by Brig Gen Wilberforce Sserunkuma; Deputy 3 Division commander, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, and Key Staff Officers
