Mountain Division Passes Out AAC Trainees, Stresses Need For Continuous Training

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Mountain Division has passed out 58 Anti-Aircraft (AAC) personnel following a two-month refresher training course aimed at enhancing professionalism and combat readiness.

Presiding over the ceremony at Mountain Division Headquarters in Fort Portal, the Deputy Division Commander, Brig Gen Paul Muwonge, commended the trainees for their outstanding performance during the demonstrations.

He applauded the course instructors for their dedication and effectiveness, noting that such training significantly boosts operational capability and ensures troops remain alert and prepared for future missions. “These exercises sharpen the mind and enhance readiness, especially in today’s modern warfare environment where technology and skill are paramount,” said Brig Gen Muwonge.

Col Alex Ejangu, the Commander of the 206 AAC Brigade, emphasised the importance of trust in military leadership, stating, “Without trust, no soldier can fight effectively.”

He highlighted discipline, perseverance, and leadership as core pillars of military training, describing discipline as “the soul of any army.”

Maj Martin Tumwesigye, Brigade Operations and Training Officer (BOTO), reiterated the need for continuous training to maintain the force’s operational effectiveness.

The ceremony was attended by senior officers, including the Division Administrative Officer (DAO), Col Grant Mugabi, as well as instructors and other members of the Mountain Division.
