Today, the Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba delivered a lecture on servant leadership to Officer Cadets of Intake 18/long at the Basic Military Training School, Kaweweta, Nakaseke District.
General Kainerugaba, also the Senior Presidential Advisor – Special Operations, reminded them that servant leadership is a powerful approach that can potentially create a positive change in the military through acts of exemplary service. “Human beings are inspired by your actions,” said General Kainerugaba.
He advised the Cadets on the characteristics of a servant leader, such as empathy and humility, and understanding the feelings and situations of the troops they lead. He urged them to prioritise the welfare of their troops and support them when faced with challenges.
General Kainerugaba also encouraged the Cadets to always seek self-improvement and not be afraid to admit mistakes and learn from others. “Leadership is not about being perfect. It is about continuous growth,” he said.
Present at the lecture were: the Commandant of the Basic Military Training School – Kaweweta Brigadier General Bonny Geoffrey Wolimbwa, senior officers, and instructors from the Basic Military Training School, Kaweweta.
