The Chief of Staff UPDF – Air Force, Brig Gen David Gonyi, has underscored the importance of regional integration, stating that it is the most effective way to guarantee the survival of member states of the Eastern Africa Standby Force.
Brig Gen Gonyi was officiating at the opening of a 14-day Battlegroup Commanders’ Course at the United Nations Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, where he urged the participants to work towards regional integration.
The course, which has attracted participants from Eastern Africa Standby Force member states, aims to enhance interoperability between member states and promote regional integration.
Brig Gen Gonyi said that the course provides the trainees and potential battlegroup commanders with essential skills and knowledge to conduct tactical planning during peacekeeping operations effectively.
He praised the Eastern Africa Standby Force Secretariat for ensuring that all member states get the opportunity to host such an activity.
The member states participating in the course are Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, Comoros, Djibouti, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sudan.
