Brig Gen Namawa Hails SFC–Police Cooperation As 125 PPG Officers Pass Out

The Chief of Staff of the Special Forces Command, Brig Gen Paul Namawa, has praised the strong cooperation between the SFC and the Uganda Police Force, saying it remains vital to safeguarding high-profile individuals and supporting national security.

He made the remarks on Saturday, 22 November 2025, during the pass-out of 125 Presidential Protection Guard officers who completed a four-month Tier 2 VVIP protection course at the VVIP Training School in Sera, Kasenyi.

Brig Gen Namawa said the long-standing partnership between the PPG and SFC continues to play a central role in coordinated security operations, citing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s guidance against what he termed blind deployment, noting that unplanned tasking strains security teams and leads to unnecessary expenditure.

He urged the graduates to uphold professionalism and live by the values of courage, loyalty, consciousness, integrity and ideological clarity as they take up their assignments.

The 3rd Special Forces Group Commander, Col Wilson Bagonza, encouraged the officers to ground their service in patriotism, nationalism and Pan-Africanism. He commended their performance in drills, shooting and martial arts but cautioned them to stay fit and avoid corruption, intrigue, sectarian tendencies and the lure of an easy lifestyle.

The School Commandant, Maj Samson Mucunguzi, thanked the UPDF leadership, particularly Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Maj Gen David Mugisha, for their continued support of the school. He appreciated the Police Force for entrusting its officers to the institution for specialised training.

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Simon Okosh commended the SFC for providing elite, internationally recognised training. He told the graduates to treat the course as a privilege and to carry forward the discipline and professionalism they have gained.

The ceremony ended with congratulations to the 125 graduates, among them 10 female officers, and renewed appreciation to the President for his guidance in strengthening the country’s security institutions.
