West Nile Gathers For Thanksgiving With Maj Gen Busizoori At Bondo Barracks

The people of West Nile convened at Bondo Military Barracks in Arua District to join Major General Felix Busizoori, Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division, for a thanksgiving ceremony that united dignitaries, religious leaders, and community members.

Organised by Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Bainomugisha, Commander of the 409 Infantry Brigade, the event celebrated gratitude and progress.

Maj Gen Busizoori expressed heartfelt thanks to God, his colleagues, and the people of West Nile for their unwavering support. Reflecting on Uganda’s advancements under President Yoweri Museveni, he lauded improvements in infrastructure and peace. “This day is special because it has brought us all together to thank God for life and the blessings bestowed upon us,” he said, stressing the importance of collaboration between the UPDF and local communities.

The Anglican Bishop of Madi and West Nile Diocese, Rt Rev Charles Collins Andaku, the event’s main celebrant, delivered a sermon based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Praising Maj Gen Busizoori’s humility, he said, “Maj Gen Busizoori has shown us the importance of gratitude. Let us all emulate his example and thank the Lord for His blessings.” Bishop Andaku likened the gesture to the biblical story of the ten lepers, where only one returned to give thanks.

Arua District Khadi, Al Hajj Abujaffer Shaban, prayed for Maj Gen Busizoori’s wisdom and leadership, while Lt Col Bainomugisha hailed him as a generous mentor committed to his subordinates’ welfare.

Among the dignitaries present were Hajjat Medina Naham Ojabe, NRM Director of Finance and Administration; Hon Paparu Lilian, Women MP for Arua District; Hon Feta Geoffrey, MP for Ayivu East; business leaders; and LC V Chairpersons, marking a united celebration of thanksgiving and community progress.
