He underscored the bridge’s significance, noting the previous temporary structure could not withstand water pressure during the rainy season, disrupting academic activities.
“We identified the needs of the area, and this initiative was intended to aid the movement of school-going children since we were told that two of them had died from drowning,” Maj Kule said.
“Every time it rained, we could stay home because of the fear of drowning like some of our colleagues, and this would greatly disrupt our studies,” they said. They applauded the UPDF for providing a solution.
Resident Gilbert Aruho said the bridge will also benefit businessmen by easing the transport of produce. The bridge has reduced a 6-kilometer journey to just 1 kilometer for many residents.
