UPDF 4 Infantry Division Conducts 30KM Route March Ahead of 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary Activities

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division has conducted a 30-kilometre route march across parts of the Acholi Sub-region, coinciding with the Division’s anticipated commemoration of the 45th Tarehe Sita Anniversary.

The march follows directives from UPDF leadership, calling for all troops to maintain combat readiness. The exercise aimed to assess individual stamina, teamwork, physical fitness, and overall preparedness for future operations.

The exercise, code-named KIFUA KIPESI, Swahili for “light chest,” brought together personnel from the Division Headquarters and its affiliated brigades.

Addressing the troops at the Division Headquarters, Maj Gen Felix Busizoori emphasised the significance of the march in building a professional, mission-ready force capable of handling any eventuality.

“Military success, both domestically and in international peacekeeping missions, relies heavily on discipline,” Maj Gen Busizoori noted.

“Rigorous training exercises and ideological orientation reinforce discipline, integrity, and professionalism. Continuous preparation ensures effective command and control, particularly for infantry forces.”

Maj Gen Busizoori observed that beyond physical conditioning, the march strengthened teamwork, unity, and endurance.

Relatedly, in a display of unity and patriotism, the UPDF, alongside the Uganda Police Force, Uganda Prisons Service, local leaders, and residents, has planned community clean-up activities in selected areas on Monday, 15 December 2025.

While the Kigezi sub-region was chosen to host this year’s celebrations, other UPDF units participated in activities within their areas of responsibility.

Maj Gen Busizoori highlighted that such collaborations strengthen the bond between the military and civilian authorities.

He appealed to Ugandans to remain calm and maintain peace as security stakeholders mitigate insecurity-related matters ahead of the festive season and election period.

In attendance were Brig Gen Paul Muwonge, the Division Deputy Commander, brigade commanders, heads of departments, troops, among others.
