Relief as UPDF cleans Kalisizo Town Council

Residents of Kalisizo Town Council have today expressed their gratitude to the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) for Cleaning their town ahead of the 44th Army Week and Tarehe Sita Anniversary celebrations in Greater Masaka region.

“Thank you so much for showing us that kind heart. We are relieved from this rubbish and we are very grateful,” remarked Ssebugwawo Herman, a shoe keeper in Kalisizo Town Council, Kyotera district.

During the cleaning exercise of Kalisizo hospital and market, plus areas around Kalisizo Town Council, Mr Apollo Mugume, the Resident District Commissioner for Kyotera district commended UPDF for associating with the community, saying this is a true testament of a Peoples’ Army.

“Everyone is happy with UPDF for the service and sacrifice,” he added.

The RDC Kyotera concluded by calling upon UPDF to maintain discipline and urging people to have a mindset change towards environment conservation, encouraging local residents to ensure proper garbage or rubbish disposal to avoid diseases like cholera and diarrhea.

The Civil Military coordinator in charge of Kyotera district Col Anatoli Nuwagaba urged area residents not to forget the fruits of having a safe and peaceful environment.

He noted that having a clean environment is an ingredient of peace. He therefore implored them to have time for maintaining a clean environment now that they are no longer facing any external threat.

Col Christina Nekesa in charge of Women Affairs appealed to women to keep discipline, just like it’s in the forces, for stability in homes.

She reminded them not to forget that some people sacrificed for the current peace, and therefore implored them to be hardworking and patient, for progressive success.

“Remember that anything you do will reflect in the future. If you have a clean record it reflects in the future,” she elaborated.

Mr.Lubega Hassavn, a crime reporter in Kyotera, commended UPDF for maintaining stability in the country for the last 44 years. “Uganda has not had major war for the last 44 years,” he expounded.
