The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has commended ministries, departments, agencies, corporate partners, and well-wishers for their contribution towards the successful organisation of the 45th Tarehe Sita celebrations held in the Kigezi Sub-region.
The recognition was made during a Corporate Dinner hosted by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) yesterday at Silver Springs Hotel, Bugolobi.
“We are cognisant of the fact that you are not giving because you have a surplus, but because you are patriotic, you love the UPDF, and you are showing solidarity,” Maj Gen Nabaasa said.
He thanked the partners for their generous contributions and active participation, which enabled the UPDF to carry out a range of activities culminating in the main celebrations held at the National Teachers’ College, Kabale.
He said the participation of the corporate community reinforced the UPDF’s identity as a people-centred army and strengthened the longstanding cordial relationship between the military and civilians.
Maj Gen Masiko, quoting President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, said wananchi are the “ultimate strategic force” behind the UPDF, stressing that public support is fundamental to the force’s doctrine and mission.
The Assistant Commissioner General of Prisons, Mr Robert Kananura, said the Uganda Prisons Service was honoured to have participated in the activities and contributed to community-focused initiatives carried out during the celebrations.
“Every institution exists because of the people who work in it, the systems it uses, the customers who sustain it, and the community around it,” he said.
He added that the UPDF forms a vital part of the national fabric that enables institutions and communities to thrive, and thanked the force for taking the lead in organising the celebrations.
Dr Mugisha highlighted that Uganda’s present stability and progress are rooted in the historical significance of Tarehe Sita, which remains a defining milestone in the country’s journey.
The dinner was attended by UPDF generals, senior officers, chief executive officers, representatives of corporate agencies, and leaders from the Kigezi Sub-region.
