UPDF Men Crowned Champions In Inter-Forces Volleyball

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) men’s volleyball team has been crowned champions of the 18th Edition of the Inter-Forces Games 2026 after defeating Uganda Prisons in a closely contested final.

The UPDF secured the title after the two teams battled through the opening three sets, forcing the match into a decisive set. UPDF emerged victorious in the final set, winning 15-11 to claim the men’s volleyball championship.

UPDF men’s volleyball coach, Brian Ivan Wamala, expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, attributing the victory to the players’ determination, commitment and hard work during preparations.

Wamala said the team also benefited from the contribution of other coaches who introduced new ideas and approaches during training.

He further commended the UPDF administration for supporting the team’s preparations, including facilitating participation in friendly matches and other activities ahead of the games.

In handball, Uganda Prisons defeated the UPDF women’s team 36-25 in a morning fixture. In the men’s category, however, the UPDF bounced back to defeat Uganda Prisons 29-21 in the afternoon.

In football, Uganda Police defeated the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) 2-0 in a match played on Thursday, while Uganda Prisons secured a 2-1 victory over UWA in Friday’s fixture.

In women’s netball, Uganda Prisons recorded a commanding 127-8 victory over UWA. In another closely contested encounter, the UPDF women defeated Uganda Police 37-35.

The Inter-Forces Games bring together teams from the country’s security and law enforcement institutions in a range of sporting disciplines, promoting competition, teamwork and camaraderie among the participating forces.
