Maj Gen George Igumba, Commandant of the Senior Command and Staff College Kimaka (SCSC-K) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), has reaffirmed the vital role of teamwork in military success, stating that effective operations rely on unity rather than individual effort.
“Militaries all over the world operate by working together as a team, not as individuals,” Maj Gen Igumba said, addressing personnel from the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MODVA) during a spirited sports event held at the college.
The day featured football and volleyball matches designed to promote interaction, cohesion, and a shared sense of purpose among defence staff. According to Maj Gen Igumba, the initiative was centred on four key objectives: encouraging engagement, fostering familiarity, strengthening bonds, and improving physical fitness.
Mr Erukwaine Godfrey, head of the Procurement and Disposal Unit and MODVA representative, praised the participants for their enthusiasm and highlighted the importance of such events in boosting morale and building camaraderie.
The day concluded with a trophy presentation ceremony attended by both senior and junior personnel from MODVA and SCSC-K, marking a successful celebration of unity through sport.
