THE UPDF RECRUITMENT OF 600 LOCAL DEFENCE PERSONNEL (LDP)

1. The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) will conduct a recruitment exercise of 600 LDP in the Districts of Kamwenge, Kabarole, Bunyangabo, Kasese, Bundibugyo, and Ntoroko. The actual recruitment exercise will commence on 10 November 2025.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Eligible candidates are to meet the following requirements:

    a. Citizenship. MUST be a citizen of Uganda in possession of an original National Identity Card/NIN.

    b. Medical. Must be healthy and ready to undergo medical and body fitness tests at the recruitment centre as well as at the training school.

    c. Age. MUST be adult male or female between 18-25 years.

    d. Education Standard. Formal education strictly of S.4 (UCE) or its equivalent.

    e. Handwritten application letter endorsed by LCI, LCII & LCIII Chairpersons, GISO or DISO, is a MUST.

    f. Aspirants MUST be residents of the particular districts, disciplined, and with no criminal record.

NOTE: Any presentation of forged documents is criminal, and culprits will be liable to prosecution.

  1. Applicants to individually report at the respective districts’ recruitment centres for physical/medical interviews with the following:

    a. Hand written application bearing recommendations from LC1, II, III and GISO/DISO.

    b. National identity card/NIN.

    c. O-LEVEL Academic certificate.

    d. Successfully recruited LDP will be transported to training school for training.
