Maj (Rtd) Iduli Is A Rent Defaulter And Not An Abductee

The UPDF is appalled at the level of unseriousness that was exhibited by the letter from the Uganda Law Society alleging that one of Dr. Col (Rtd) Besigye’s lawyers had been abducted!

It would have been useful to all concerned for the author of the letter to put pen to paper after investigations. We respect the legal profession like all the noble professions and we expect them to conduct business with objectivity.

The facts surrounding the arrest of Maj (Rtd) Ronald Iduli, were given in a statement by SP Onyango as it should be, since he is the PRO of Kampala Metropolitan Police.

The retired Maj, as we have learned, has defaulted on rent for ten (10) months and as if that’s not bad enough, he threatens his Land Lady with violence!!

Whatever is one’s profession or status, we must all meet our obligations and it is very unfortunate to hide our misdeeds behind a politicized legal process.

As a people’s Defence Force, we condemn the conduct of retired Maj Iduli and as law-abiding citizens, we urge everyone to allow the police to do their work.

It is however, important to note that Police found military stores with the retired Maj Iduli. Our laws are very clear on which type of uniform one retains on retirement.

As a lawyer who at one time practiced law in the forces, he must be knowledgeable of the matter and we shall cooperate with police where necessary to have the case legally and logically concluded.
