The two-day assessment was led by OWC Deputy Chief Coordinator Brig Gen Godfrey Muwanguzi, who urged investors to adhere to project timelines and ensure accountability in the use of government resources.
The delegation visited the Tilenga oil project in Buliisa District, operated by TotalEnergies, and the Kingfisher Oil Field in Kikuube District, operated by CNOOC.
At the Kingfisher Central Processing Facility, the committee was briefed on drilling operations, crude oil processing, waste management and measures to mitigate environmental risks.
Officials also briefed the delegation on the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), which will transport crude oil from Uganda’s oil fields to Tanga Port in Tanzania.
In Hoima District, the committee reviewed the 2025 Master Plan for Kabaale Industrial Park, a planned hub for petroleum-related industries, manufacturing and value addition. The delegation also received an update on the proposed Uganda Oil Refinery, with Government targeting a Final Investment Decision by February 2027.
The committee further assessed the role of Kabaale International Airport in supporting petroleum and industrial development in the region before visiting Kaseeta Modern Ecological Demonstration Farm in Kikuube District.
The farm provided an opportunity to assess how modern agricultural practices, value addition and improved market access can increase household incomes and strengthen local participation in the regional economy.
The assessment concluded with a call for timely implementation of projects, prudent management of public resources, environmental protection and stronger value chains to maximise the benefits of investments in the Albertine Graben.
