OWC Delegation Visits Albertine Graben To Assess Oil And Gas Opportunities

A delegation from the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Senior Management Committee, led by Deputy Chief Coordinator of Operations Brigadier General Godfrey Muwanguzi, is conducting a two-day visit to the Albertine Graben to assess developments in Uganda’s oil, gas and petroleum sector.

The visit is aimed at giving the OWC leadership first-hand knowledge of key petroleum infrastructure, institutions and activities, while exploring opportunities for increased local participation in the sector.

At Hoima Stadium, the facility’s manager, Eng. Moses Ogen, briefed the team on its development and operational milestones. He said construction of the stadium was completed in about 13 months, and was certified by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) and handed over to the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).

The delegation also received a briefing from Mr. Tony Otoa, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), on the company’s mandate and role in Uganda’s petroleum industry.

He said UNOC is mandated to safeguard and manage Uganda’s commercial interests in the petroleum sector and contribute to the secure and reliable supply of petroleum products.

The engagement is providing OWC leaders with a broader understanding of the country’s petroleum value chain, supporting infrastructure and safety systems, as well as the opportunities arising from the sector’s development.

The delegation is also examining the sector’s potential to create employment, attract investment, stimulate local businesses and contribute to national economic transformation.
