Addressing a commander’s update briefing at the UNGU-XI headquarters in Mogadishu, Lt Col Barigye underscored the foundational role of ethical and empathetic leadership in mission success. “We cannot be in this mission alone as commanders without troops. We need them, and they need us,” he stated. “We must respect them, value their feelings, and recognise the dignity of every soldier, regardless of their background.”
He went on to commend the officers for their continued efforts in maintaining administrative cohesion and aligning troops with the mission’s strategic objectives. The commander further urged sustained preparedness and discipline in order to effectively counter any emerging threats.
