The commitment was made during a joint meeting in Buulo Mareer attended by local leaders, military commanders and representatives of partner forces to review the security situation in Kontunwaarrey District and surrounding areas.
The Kontunwaarrey District Commissioner, Hon. Ibrahim Haji Hussein, who emphasised the importance of cooperation among local authorities, elders and youth in supporting stability and protecting communities.
“The continued cooperation and teamwork among the security forces are critical to strengthening stability and protecting communities in Lower Shabelle,” Lt Col Naijuka said.
Maj Faarax, Commanding Officer of the SNA 62nd Infantry Battalion, thanked the Government of Uganda for its continued commitment to Somalia and its contribution to Pan-African peace and security efforts.
He highlighted the strong relationship between Uganda and Somalia, noting that the two countries share a commitment to peace, security and the wellbeing of African communities.
The meeting brought together commanders and representatives from the UPDF, SNA and the specialised Danab Brigade, providing an opportunity to strengthen coordination among security actors and local authorities in Lower Shabelle.
