The African Union Mission in Somalia, AMISOM, has awarded a service medal to Brig. Gen. Bob Ogik, the Military Chief of Staff, for contributing to peace and stability in Somalia.
Brig. Gen Ogik, who was recently appointed Chief of Staff of the Uganda Land Forces, received a medal and certificate during an event held at the AMISOM Force Headquarters in Mogadishu.
Presiding over the medal award event on Monday, Lt. Gen. Ndegeya hailed Brig. Gen Ogik for contributing to the advancement of the AMISOM mandate.
“Your experience, strategic management and leadership enabled you to bring ideas and propose initiatives that were adopted at the force headquarters,” Lt. Gen. Ndegeya stated.
He also applauded Brig. Gen. Ogik for supporting processes to review the Somalia Transition Plan, the Concept of Operations, CONOPs, joint planning and coordination with the Somali National Army counterparts.
“During the temporary absence of the Deputy Force Commander, you assumed command and control of AMISOM military personnel by making appropriate strategic decisions,” Lt. Gen. Ndegeya noted.
The Force Commander noted that the recent appointment of Brig. Gen. Ogik, as Chief of Staff of the Land Forces in the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, is a testament to his leadership attributes.
Brig. Gen. Ogik thanked the AMISOM leadership and the AMISOM Force Commander for the guidance and stewardship that enabled him to discharge his duties.
