The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Land Force has conducted a handover ceremony for the offices of Director of Finance and Public Information Officer at its Headquarters in Bombo.
During the ceremony, Colonel Joab Yebazibwe formally handed over the office of Director of Finance to Lieutenant Colonel Yona Tumuvamye, while Maj Peter Mugisha transferred the responsibilities of Public Information Officer to Maj Charles Kabona.
The Chief of Staff – Land Force, Brigadier General Chris Bagonza, who presided over the ceremony cited Ecclesiastes 3:1, which states that there is a time for everything
He said that leadership transitions are a natural part of institutional growth and continuity.
He commended the outgoing Director of Finance Land Force, Col Joab Yebazibwe, for his dedicated service and contribution to the UPDF during his tenure.
Col Yebazibwe on his part expressed gratitude to the UPDF leadership for the trust and support accorded to him throughout his service.
In his remarks, Lt Col Tumuvamye pledged to execute his duties with integrity, professionalism and accountability. He commended his predecessor for laying a strong foundation upon which he intends to build.
Relatedly, Maj Peter Mugisa handed over responsibilities to Maj Charles Kabona.
Maj Mugisa said that the office had established productive working relationships with media stakeholders in Luwero and neighbouring areas, including collaboration with Great Luwero Media to enhance public engagement and information dissemination.
Maj Kabona thanked the outgoing Public Information Officer for his dedicated service and pledged to build on the achievements already attained.
“We are not starting from zero. My experience in various directorates of the UPDF has prepared me for this assignment,” Maj Kabona said.
The ceremony was attended by several senior officers, including the Joint Staff Finance, Brig Gen Robert Mugabe; Acting Director of Human Resource Management Land Force, Brig Gen Emmanuel Ayuk Ewama; Director of Logistics Land Force, Col Steven Malinga; and other officers from Land Force Headquarters.
