UPDF 4 Infantry Division Sees Leadership Change In Deputy Division Commander Office

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division has witnessed a change in leadership at the level of Deputy Division Commander, following the handover of office from Brigadier General Paul Muwonge, who has been appointed as Defence Attaché to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to Colonel Oloya Orombi, who assumes the position in an acting capacity.

The handover and takeover ceremony took place at the division headquarters in Gulu and was presided over by the Division Commander, Major General Felix Busizoori.

Maj Gen Busizoori commended Brig Gen Muwonge for his discipline, professionalism, and commitment throughout his tenure as Deputy Division Commander. He congratulated him upon his new appointment as the UPDF Defence Attaché to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

He emphasised the importance of sustained coordination within the formation, while urging commanders to remain vigilant on border security along Uganda’s frontiers with the DRC and South Sudan. He also cautioned against land-related incursions in the Apaa area, describing them as unacceptable.

Brig Gen Muwonge expressed gratitude to the Division leadership for the guidance and support received during his tenure.

He appreciated the Commander-in-Chief, President Yoweri Museveni, and the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with various command responsibilities, noting that he will continue to support the institution in his new diplomatic-military role in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Col Orombi, who also serves as Division Operations and Training Officer, paid tribute to Brig Gen Muwonge for his strategic guidance and professionalism, saying his leadership set a strong standard for junior officers and troops.

The ceremony was attended by brigade commanders, the Regional Police Commander for Aswa, departmental heads, staff officers, and other guests.
