SFC Effects Leadership Changes Across Formations And Directorates

The Special Forces Command (SFC) has effected a series of changes in key leadership positions across its formations and directorates, with several officers assuming new appointments.

Among the changes is the appointment of Brigadier General John Mango Baraza as the new Chief of Staff (COS) SFC, succeeding Brigadier General Paul Wanyera Namawa, who is set to attend a strategic course at the National Defence College Uganda.

The handover ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Commander SFC, Brigadier General Asaph Mwetise Nyakikuru, at SFC Headquarters.

Brig Gen Nyakikuru commended Brig Gen Namawa for laying a strong foundation for the office and applauded his leadership and achievements during his tenure.

He urged Brig Gen Baraza to consult his predecessor whenever necessary and emphasised the importance of teamwork, professionalism and commitment to advancing the service.

Brig Gen Namawa thanked the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) leadership for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as the first SFC Chief of Staff. He expressed appreciation to the Commander SFC, Major General BD Mugisha, for his guidance and support.

On his part, Brig Gen Baraza called for teamwork and cooperation among SFC leadership and staff as he assumed his new responsibilities.

The changes also saw several officers assume new appointments, including the Director Political Commissar, Commander 16 Service Brigade, Commander 2 Protective Agents Brigade, Commandant VVIP-Training School Sera Kasenyi, Commanding Officer 6 Infantry Battalion, and Commandant Fort Samora Machel Training School.

Other positions were Deputy Director of Operations, Commander 804 Motorised Infantry Brigade, Director of Personnel Policy, Commanding Officer 2 Infantry Battalion, Administration in the Directorate of Operations, SFC Public Information Officer, and Chief Instructor at Fort Samora Machel Training School.
