STATE HOUSE ENTEBBE , UGANDA, 17 August 2019 - H.E Gen. Yoweri.K.Museveni receives five newly accredited envoys to Uganda at State House, Entebbe
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni received five newly accredited envoys to Uganda, (French, Belgian, Ghanaian, Thailand and Sri Lankan Ambassadors to Uganda), who presented their credentials in separate ceremonies held at State House, Entebbe.
I welcomed the new French Ambassador, Jules Armand Aniambossou.
I told him (French Ambassador to Uganda) that Uganda and France have enjoyed good political relationship for a long time. I suggested that the collaboration between the two countries should be enhanced further to include economic, water transport and other sectors.
Through the new Belgian envoy Rudi Veestraeten, I extended an invitation to Belgian ship building companies to come to Uganda to venture into construction of water transport vessels to serve on Ugandan water bodies.
I informed the envoy that Uganda still lacks water transport system yet Belgium is known because of its good history and ship building reputation.
I also told the Ambassador that the African continent commands a big market potential for Europe.
I challenged the Western world companies to take advantage of the relationship between Europe and Africa and participate in the development of the natural resources on the continent.
Receiving letters of credence of the new Ghanaian High Commissioner, Ashietey Odunton, I saluted the leadership of Ghana's political father, Kwame Nkrumah, for leading a political national revolution that was inspirational with regard to economic growth.
Ambassador Ashietey Odunton, pledged commitment towards strengthening of the relationship between Ghana and Uganda.
She thanked me for the good heart for the African continent and support for Uganda's strategic development.
With the new Thai envoy, Cherdkiat Atthakor, we discussed issues pertaining to investments, trade, industry, tourism, among others
I encouraged Thai enterprises to participate in Uganda's market development.
I also commended Sri Lanka for achieving an impressive and extensive economic growth.
This I said, while receiving the credentials new High Commissioner, Weerawardena Sunil Dharmasena.
