The European Union Special Representative for the Great Lakes Region, Ambassador Johan Borgstam, met with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
The leaders discussed regional security, Operation Shujaa’s progress, and future EU-Uganda cooperation.
Ambassador Borgstam praised the UPDF’s vital role in maintaining regional stability, acknowledging their efforts in promoting peace and security.
“They discussed regional security, the progress of Operation Shujaa, and further cooperation between the EU and Uganda. The EU Special Representative expressed strong admiration for the UPDF and pledged to work for strong relations between the EU and Uganda,” a message from the CDF’s meeting noted.
The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe, was also attended by Ambassador Jan Sadek, Head of the EU Delegation to Uganda, and his deputy, Mr Guillaume Chartrain.
