The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, joined an esteemed gathering of high-profile guests at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali for the swearing-in ceremony of Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
This marked Kagame’s fourth term as president, solidifying his leadership in the East African nation.
The event was a vibrant celebration, featuring lively musical performances and impressive military parades.
Gen Kainerugaba arrived in Kigali on Saturday evening, received by his Rwandan counterpart, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, and other senior RDF officials. He was accompanied by a delegation including Maj Gen James Birungi, Brig Gen Richard Karemire, Alexander Akandwanaho, and Andrew Mwenda.
During his visit, Gen Kainerugaba, also Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, is expected to engage in talks with President Kagame and Gen Muganga. Notably, Gen Kainerugaba has played a crucial role in easing tensions between Uganda and Rwanda, previously disrupted trade and movement across the border.
