Discipline Is Key To A Stable Career, Maj Gen Busizoori Tells Troops

The Commander of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) 4 Infantry Division, Major General Felix Busizoori, has urged soldiers to uphold discipline, warning that indiscipline could derail their military careers.

Speaking during the weekly Monday Baraza at the Division Headquarters in Gulu, Maj Gen Busizoori reminded troops that disregarding the army’s code of conduct not only threatens their future but also undermines the integrity of the force.

He praised soldiers currently deployed in operational zones, noting their dedication to the UPDF’s mission of defending Uganda’s borders and protecting citizens and property.

Maj Gen Busizoori also stressed the need for physical fitness, calling it “essential for individual advancement and national service.” He encouraged troops to prioritise their health as a cornerstone of effective service.

Highlighting the dangers of poor money management, he urged soldiers to adopt sound financial habits. “Many soldiers fall into the trap of poor financial planning, which pushes them into debt,” he warned, advising them to save and invest wisely instead of taking out loans for unproductive expenses.

He applauded the division for its success in ongoing operations, commending troops for maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism.

The gathering was attended by both senior and junior officers, departmental heads, and rank-and-file militants.
