The Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs (Defence) Hon Jacob Marksons Oboth has today hosted the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda H.E Zhang Lizhong who paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry Of Defence and Veteran Affairs Headquarters, Mbuya.
The Government of Uganda and the Republic of China continue to enjoy and maintain long term traditional relationships in terms of infrastructure, trade and peace keeping.
Amb. Zhang Lizhong said Uganda and the Republic of China have shared Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) and the key purpose of the meeting was to pave way for another MOU to work together in-terms of peace keeping operations.
The meeting discussed shared goals on economic and trade deals, African security and defence matters in Africa.
It was agreed during the meeting that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) will be held through a zoom meeting in the month of August to further discuss matters of common concern between the two countries.
In attendance were Mrs. Rosette Byengoma Permanent Secretary – Ministry Of Defence and Veteran Affairs and other Chinese counterparts Zhang Zhuo and Cheng Cheng.
