The UPDF Chief of Defence Forces, General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi on invitation joined the Ethiopian National Defence Forces to participate in the 116th National Army celebrations that took place today at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and later held different engagements with various stakeholders.
Gen Mbadi also carried a special message from His Excellency the President of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces to the people of Ethiopia.
During the celebrations, the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) renewed its commitment and dedication to the gallantry of the army in ensuring peace and stability, heroic anti-colonial success, and demonstrated preparedness to sustain its national legacy.
Gen Mbadi later paid a courtesy call to his counterpart Field Marshal Birhanu Jula Gelalcha at the Ethiopia Defence Forces Headquarters where several bilateral issues were discussed.
The issues discussed were but not limited to Regional Security and the overarching evolving security situation on the African continent.
He also visited the African Union Headquarters, where he was welcomed by Alhaji Sarjoh Bah, the Director of the Conflict Management Directorate of Political Affairs Peace and Security Department.
Gen Mbadi later met a team of Expert Researchers led by Prof Wafula an East African academician based in the United Kingdom where the message of African solutions was reiterated and the need to give border security ample consideration since the borders are arbitrarily created by colonialism.
