Gen Kainerugaba Meets New Italian Ambassador To Uganda

Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, met with His Excellency Mauro Massoni, the new Italian Ambassador to Uganda, this afternoon at the Special Forces Command (SFC) Headquarters in Entebbe.

The discussion focused on matters of mutual interest between Uganda and Italy, with both leaders acknowledging the long-standing historical ties and reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

While Uganda and Italy have maintained diplomatic relations for years, the signing of a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation in 2020 significantly enhanced the relationship.

During the meeting, Gen Kainerugaba extended a warm welcome to Ambassador Massoni, marking their first encounter since the latter’s appointment. Ambassador Massoni succeeded Ambassador Massimiliano Mazzanti, whose term in Uganda ended last year.
